Industry Feedback Requested - Proposed 2017 Legislation for Board

Industry feedback is requested regarding proposed legislation the Board of Professional Engineers and Professional Land Surveyors (Board) has initiated.  The purpose of the legislation is to clarify four sections of the Wyoming Surveyors and Engineers Practice Act Wyoming Statute. §33-29-201 through 33-29-801 and move language from Wyoming Statute §33-29-801(b) through (d) to Wyoming Statute §41-4-507.

The proposed statutory changes were reviewed and approved at the June 20, 2016 Board meeting. Based on those changes, the Legislative Services Office (LSO) has written 17LSO-0097 Working Draft 0.4 and 17LSO-0103 Formal Draft1.1.

On September 13, 2016 Pat Tyrrell, State Engineer and Board member, discussed 17LSO-0103 with the Joint Agriculture, State and Public Lands & Water Resources Committee (Joint Ag Committee) who has agreed to sponsor that bill.

On September 15, 2016, Pat Tyrrell, discussed the 17LSO-0097 Working Draft at the Joint Corporations, Elections & Political Subdivisions Committee (Joint Corporations Committee) meeting.  The Committee has invited the Board to further discuss the Working Draft during the November 21-22 meetings in Cheyenne.

Feedback on either bill is greatly appreciated.  Comments on 17LSO-0097 may be emailed to may be emailed to:  shannon.stanfill@wyo.gov.   Comments on 17LSO-0103 may be emailed to:  patrick.tyrrell@wyo.gov,   rick.deuell@wyo.gov, or lee.arrington@wyo.gov
